The first part of this series was written a while back.
I got wait listed when I applied to the art school I eventually attended – The Pratt Institute. Looking back, I couldn’t believe it because the 4 years there felt like “cake”. And coming from a successful, 4 years at a highly rigorous experience spent in a New England boarding school, the contrast was/is extremely stark.
Recently, my parents clipped and mailed to me an article from a magazine about the famous, Native-New Yorker, graphic designer – Milton Glaser (he designed the “I HEART NY” logo). He’s one of my favorite graphic artists around and serves as an inspiration. My parents told me to take note of Milton Galser’s failure to pass the entrance exam to Pratt not once, but TWICE! See #2 in the article.
I was surprised. More surprised than him being the designer of many famous iconic images we recognize to this day. It doesn’t matter what happens to you in life, rather, it’s how you react to it. The road is LONG! Travel well.[stu alias="fivestar1"][/stu]
