A little over a year ago this time, I was sitting in the HQ of the CityLax organization with Mat Levine, John Moser and Tewaaraton Award winners; Max Seibald and Rob Pannell. Our goal was to come up and solidify a logo concept for LCNewYork – an elite travel team hailing from my hometown of NYC. “LC” for lacrosse club to be informative. With ideas and suggestions being tossed out randomly, I kept drafting as much information into creative forms on my sketchbook for them to peruse. Max and Rob, who were to be the coaches of the team, wanted the logo to mimic and have a feel of a European premiere futbol club, or “soccer”, as we call it in the U.S. To work as a team with Rob and Max, and the rest of the CityLax staff, I didn’t want to disappoint them, and as a competitive person the fire and determination was that of being back on the lacrosse field.
The final execution was reproduced on apparel products for training and game day, among other items to wear. Looking back, it was great to be a part of creating something that represented NYC and lacrosse, while continuing my working relationships with CityLax and getting to know both Rob and Max, as well.
When you do what you really love, it will NEVER feel like work.
