The Making of The Grind

Back in 2010, one of my first international, custom orders was box lacrosse-related. I remember a number of past U.S. Lacrosse Convention events, where attendees from Canada perused my booth filled with field lacrosse-themed images, only to ask for box lacrosse ones. In 2015, I was invited to work on a few projects for and attend the WILC (World Indoor Lacrosse Championships) on the Onondaga Reservation. It was there, that I saw the significant growth, and popularity of Box Lacrosse which ear-marked a decision to really consider it more in my work.

I remember sitting behind the glass in the WILC and seeing the intense play of box lacrosse. The constant movement in the close quarters made it a ‘shark tank’. The word ‘Grind’ came to mind when executing a new piece along with the recent ‘Box Goalie’ image that was just released.

Here are some of the work-in-progress pics:

I remember feeling the burn to keep working on this, since things were coming along. And just this past Sunday before 8:00 a.m., I decided to go for a finish!

After feeling the burn, the finished piece, below.
